West African Transform Margin
The West African Transform Margin (WATM) extends from Sierra Leone in the west to Benin in the east. What was once frontier territory for oil and gas exploration has had some of the most exciting discoveries in recent years.
The WATM spans multiple countries along the West African coastline, each offering its own unique geography, challenges, and opportunities. TGS delivers comprehensive solutions tailored to the diverse exploration needs in this region - from government support and fostering key relationships to providing critical data insights and acquisition solutions.

Angola
The Angolan continental margin hosts significant proven reserves as well as untapped potential. TGS seismic data and geoscience studies provide a solid foundation to build a regional understanding of the hydrocarbon potential, by unraveling and derisking both pre- and post-salt prospectivity.
Using the latest acquisition, processing and imaging technologies, new licensing activity and TGS data for Angola are fueling a resurgence in exploration interest as significant imaging uplifts and reliable attributes reveal untapped potential. Additional geoscience studies are available for companies licensing seismic datasets, to fast-track geological understanding and evaluate petroleum systems and plays ahead of bid applications.
TGS, in partnership with ANPG (Agência Nacional de Petróleo, Gás e Biocombustíveis), has been acquiring and processing multi-client 3D and 2D seismic data in Angola for over 20 years, resulting in a library of over 69,200 sq. km of 3D data and over 50,000 line km of 2D data covering every exploration block offshore Angola.

The MSGBC Basin, rich in hydrocarbon potential, features significant discoveries like SNE and Greater Tortue. TGS advances exploration with high-resolution 3D seismic imaging and detailed geochemical insights, providing significant opportunities in this prolific region.
The Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau and Republic of Guinea (MSGBC) Basin is home to several high-profile oil and gas discoveries in recent years. The palaeo-shelf edge carbonate trend extending south of the SNE field and other prospective areas north and south of the existing fields has led many explorers to the region.
TGS provides critical regional subsurface data for offshore areas across every country in the MSGBC Basin, spanning northern Mauritania to the southern Republic of Guinea and beyond. Our extensive regional 2D seismic data delivers continuous subsurface insights across the entire basin, while targeted 3D surveys focus on key exploration hotspots.
Orange Basin
Orange Basin
The Orange Basin contains a range of Early to Late Cretaceous clastic plays sourced by the Aptian Kudu shale, which likely extends northwards into the Walvis and Lüderitz basins. The Venus, Graff and Mopane discoveries highlight the diversity of reservoirs and structural styles in the Orange Basin.

Brazil Pre-Salt Basins
TGS holds the most extensive 2D and 3D seismic data coverage in the Campos and Santos basins, maintaining a unique position across multiple ANP bid rounds.
This highly sought-after region includes blocks situated among leading operators, and our comprehensive data enables the precise identification and mapping of structural highs for the available blocks.
East Coast Canada
East Coast Canada stands out as a leading deepwater exploration region, with producing basins and significant potential for new discoveries.
The area includes highly prospective basins with opportunities for world-class oil production. Frontier acreage lies near discoveries like Bay du Nord, Mizzen, and Harpoon, as well as established fields such as Hibernia, White Rose, Terra Nova and Hebron.
Norwegian Sea
The Norwegian Sea gained geological prominence in 1981 with the discovery of Midgard, now integrated into Åsgard.
Over time, it has evolved into a vital petroleum region, remaining active and mature with numerous oil and gas fields currently in production.
Indonesia
Indonesia remains one of the most attractive countries for offshore exploration, with substantial undiscovered hydrocarbon potential across frontier and near-field basins.
